Baker and owner Kari jensen

Kari’s love for baking started when she was a kid, loving to make cookies afterschool or cakes for her parents and brother. The first cake she made was an elephant cake for her mom! As a self-taught baker, when she had kids of her own she started making them decorated character cakes which turned into a business when her family moved to Wisconsin for 5 years where she opened her first custom cake shoppe.

In Waukesha, Wisconsin is where she took some classes at Michael’s craft store learning how to make big tiered cakes, this moving her from just making kids cakes to making wedding cakes! After moving back to Washington in 2013 she wanted to learn more about baking techniques and pastries so she attended Skagit Valley College and earned a pastry chef certificate.

The name “Miss Kari” comes from when her family lived in Sedro Woolley the kids in the neighborhood called her that, and she was always happily sharing cookies or cupcakes with them or for one of the kids’ birthdays.
